The bad- Nachos. They can be avoided. They taste like the kind you make your self at a 7-11 gas station. They should reevaluate this menu item and look at doing a little more with them. The good- everyone that was working there were insanely nice! Owner came and chatted with us at our table, people taking our order were also great. The chicken cheese steak was delicious. Definitely would recommend this sub. Peppers onions chicken cheese. BOOM your day is great. Add in the french fries and you got your self a smile. The rangoons with spinich artichokes were pretty good.... would try other apps before going back to them but they were good. The cheese steak sub was also super tasty (i tried everyone at my tables food). Chicken. Sluvaki was pretty good but go for the chicken cheese steak instead if you want chicken... even though they're both good the chicken cheese steak takes the cake! long story short there are probably a few misses on the menu but I'd say you have a 95% chance of being super happy about your meal! Stop by here if you're in the area for a quick nicely priced large serving meal served by great people!

I wish they were open year round. this will be the FIRST place I go to get food come summer. we took it to the beach in 4th of July and it was excellent. I would recommend to everyone who comes to The Hideout guests or residents.

Fantastic food and friendly service, make sure you come hungry because you will want to order more than you can eat. Party of 6 we had Philly steak sausage & peppers fish and chips, cheese sticks, steak fries and chicken crazy fingers, everything was great we can't wait to go back and try the fish tacos!

I was stuck at the house waiting for a repair person & was surprised to find a place that delivers in the hideout. Figured the food would be ok at best & boy was I surprised to find a unique menu with Greek, Latin, & American choices! I tried the spinach artichoke rangoons. These were very tasty and not too oily like I expected. French fries were real fresh cut fries that were delicious & again not too oily. But the best part was the Philly cheesesteak hero. Perfect amount of steak, onions & cheese. My mouth is watering thinking of it now. Bread was nice & soft & soaked up the juices from the onions & meat like a good hero bread should & added to the flavor. I cannot wait to try more items from this place. Delivery was fast & the guy was very friendly & nice. Stop reading this & go there now. You won't be disappointed!

We have been going to his place for a little while. Does have great food, to which we have not ate all what he has to offer. I think in my opinion that there are so many choices it sometimes makes you sit there deciding what to eat. Great service by the staff and local establishment works out great. I would highly recommend to go and have some great food. The only downfall that he is closed for the winter.

Have been ordering from here for the past 3 summers. What a wonderful addition to the neighborhood! In an area where delivery is not an option they are gracious enough to provide it. Although often times I just order for pick up. Favorite meal is the gyro platter. You get a very healthy portion gyro that is fresh, juicy and side of potatoes chips or if you add $2.00 fresh cut thick French fries. Seems to be a family business and when I go to pick up my meal the owner and kids are always very polite. They are always very happy to see their customers and very welcoming. We have also tried burgers. The location is outside The HIdeout community which is key. Many hungry people there! Perfect for me when I come home and don't want to cook I call ahead and pick up on the way. They also have outdoor seating which faces the Genaro lake. Tables are picnic style. On a sunny day the location and setup brings for an enjoyable relaxing meal outdoors. Menu is extensive and has tons of options to choose from. I am a creature of habit and I love their gyros so I haven't really ventures into anything else but I will soon!

What's wrong with you, Lake Ariel? Why are you not Yelping this diamond in the rough? Because you should be. Our family enjoyed some nice vacation time in this neck of the woods and my brother-in-law somehow sniffed this place out. Which somewhat offends me.... Being a fat guy, I'm supposed to know where to get yummy food. But I digress.... So we pull up to this place with a few beers in tow. It's outdoor seating, and it basically resembles a hot dog stand. So I figure the food will be passable. I was pleasantly surprised. The Sausage & Peppers hoagie (or sub or grinder or hero, depending on how your stupid state names the damn thing) had to be the best I've had the pleasure of stuffing my face with. The peppers and onions were fresh, the sausage had a nice kick but didn't go overboard and the bread was really good. Just a solid sandwich. The fries were way above average. You just assume they would throw some frozen Ore-Ida crinkle cuts in the frier but these were nicely sized hand-cut French fried potatoes. Why oh why did I order a small? A large order should be mandatory. The rest of the crew ordered gyros, a chicken Philly, hot dogs and all seemed to enjoy. My gluten free family members seemed very pleased with what they had as well. And to top it off, the proprietor came out and thanked us. He couldn't have been a nicer, down-to-earth guy. I don't know if or when we will be back in Lake Ariel, but if we do return, we'll certainly be back.

This is a great little place for quick summer take-out. It's also one of the few places in the area with vegetarian selections. The vegetable sandwich is great and the prices are pretty affordable. I've also had the falafel sandwich. It's decent, but I've had better yogurt sauce, so it's best to have it on the side.

I've always felt that tiny hole-in-the-wall places are going to be either great or terrible with no middle ground... Harlin's is great! I had browsed their site and seen the Yelp reviews and it's just down the road a few miles so I tried it out tonight. My boyfriend and I both got the falafel - me because I hadn't seen a falafel place in PA yet and him because he had never had any. We didn't wait long for our food, and the seating is out near some lakes/ponds at the entrance to one of the area housing communities so it's a nice atmosphere. As we picked up our orders a gentleman who I think is Greg, one of the owners, was with the man who took our order. He told us he hoped we enjoyed, and if we did that he makes the hummus in-house so we might like that - and also that he made the tahini sauce that came with the falafel. The falafel was great, came with plenty of veggies in a pita with chips and the tahini sauce. A few bites in and Greg(?) came by with a tray and told us it was fried maduros. I had seen them on the menu and wondered what they were - he said it was a fried plantain and was like candy, to give them a try but be careful because they were very hot. I was skeptical because I personally hate bananas - like, gagging on any taste of them - but I surprisingly liked them so we got an order to take home after we were done. As we left he and the other guy gave us a shout to have a great evening and thank us. We assured them we'll probably be back - the service, food, and atmosphere were relaxed and wonderful. I'm still grinning! (Plus, they do takeout and delivery. The Hideaway is definitely close enough, and anyone in the Wallenpaupack Lake Estates could probably get delivery too.)

We saw other good reviews on Yelp for Harlin's so we checked it out while on vacation on Lake Ariel. The food was really delicious! We had the summer chicken, pulled pork, and cheese steak. All great. The food was a diverse combination of Greek/Mediterranean and American with lots of options. The cook/owner came out while we were eating and was very welcoming and appreciative that we'd come.

A weird mix of American hand food, and sit down Latin style food. Kind of a weird mix, but whatever works. The American stuff is your standard, deep fried, grill top, food truck fare. Pretty good. To be totally fair, I'm Spanish, and its reaaaalllyyy tough for anyone to impress me when it comes to Latin food, Harlins is no exception. The yellow rice was not bad, but everything else is just....well, try it and judge for yourself, like I said, it's not like moms, but it might be great for you and your family. Oh, and you can fish the pond while they prep your food....always a plus in my book!

I'm Puerto Rican so finding a place in the middle of nowhere that serves "pr specialties" was a very pleasant surprise. We ordered the Fish tacos (as recommended by other yelpers) summer chicken entree w/arroz con guandules (which was actually rice and red beans, rather than rice with peas....-guandules are peas), maduros (fried sweet plantains) and cucumber salad. I'm giving them 4 stars because they left out one of my sides (German potato salad). I'm sure a lot of "hideout" guests drive right by this place and think they only serve hotdogs.

Had dinner delivered during the week, it was hot it was delicious. So good in fact that we went to this little place located adjacent to lake Genero the next night. The food is fantastic the atmosphere (eating outside) was great. So if you're in NE PA and happin to be in Lake Ariel you must try this place. It is opposite the Main entrance to the Hideout. You won't be disappointed.

Delicious, homemade food in a fabulous laid-back atmosphere! This was clearly the best dining option around our rental home in the Poconos. Fabulous for kids too! Must get the fried plantains and gyros! A fun evening out!

Listen: Once you leave New York City, you take on the burden of knowing the amazing, ridiculously authentic, tasty as hell food is now behind you. You accept the unbearable weight of the strip mall eatery, the ApplesBees, the Olive Garden, you know, whatever suburgatory is convinced is their new "top notch" dining experience. You know in your heart of hearts they means well, but Jesus, is that even MEAT in the "steak" at the mall?! BUT THEN, sometimes, just sometimes, you stumble upon a diamond in the middle of NOWHERE rough! An eatery that rises through the Pocono mists, with say maybe, an ex-New Yorker, or New Jerseyite at the helm, who can appreciate things like handmade, real deal tzatziki sauce, PURE Nathan's chili cheese dogs, fresh halal and spanish foods, as well as an array of ever updating appetizers, and who have, say, somehow, someway, made it possible to bite into the juiciest, most delicious meals this flip side of the Del Water Gap/NYC triangle! Friends, countrymen, drunk dude at Sheetz who ended up on Yelp somehow, and people who leave NYC to get away and end up in this area once in awhile, THIS IS THAT PLACE! It's astonishing to find such a high grade of food, at #1 the figurative middle of nowhere, surrounded by greasy spoon places, #2 at the price it's at, and #3 with such a great dude who owns it! It's like finding a gold coin in the grocery store vending machine!!! It's AMAZING! You reach in for a dime and BOOM, gold bullion! My GOD! Have you tried their fish tacos?! I know, I know, you're like, WTF, fish tacos off a yellow portable eatery in the back mountains of PA, yeah, that's a great idea, and I'm here to tell you YES, by golly, it IS a great idea! Everything is so fresh, it's astounding! And, to top it all off, they freakin' deliver!!! Now, if we could only convince this adorable couple to bring some of that yummy gyro meat back to NYC again, that would be fantastic! :P

Picked up some takeout from this place one night, nothing fancy...just some burgers and a steak sandwich but oh man, hot greasy and delicious is all I can say about this place. Would def. be worth the stop for some food here whenever your passing by.

UNBELIEVABLE ROADSIDE RESTAURANT. If you are anywhere near this place do yourself a favor and try it. Hop off of rt 84 and drive a few miles and you will be blown away. Everything is made fresh to order and the food is fantastic. Great service too...great burgers and the best gyro I ever had. I stayed at a nearby rental for a week and ate there every day.(sometimes twice). It is outdoor dining (picnic table under an umbrella) without waiter service. The Place is also spotless!!!

For the area this place is a breath of fresh air. All different types of freshly prepared food out of this lakeside food truck like place. Nice picnic tables, wifi, gyros, steak fries and more. I found the pernil a little bland as well as the mushrooms but everything else was delicious! Friendly and fast service.
